To say that the weather this spring has been lousy is an understatement. Did you know that the 109 mm of rain that we received was a 119% increase on the average historic rain volume for May? Did you also know that this was one of the coldest springs ever with the longest streak of daily low temperatures below 10°C ever recorded?
As a result of this painful spring it likely comes as no surprise that we are currently negative to budget. Fortunately, it’s not all bad news. Although the spring has dealt us a blow, membership fees are positive to budget and catering continues to contribute to our bottom line. It is unfortunate to find ourselves in this position so early in the year; however, there are still several months to recapture this lost revenue.
When it comes to membership, spring is always a busy time as the hope for summer weather brings out perspective members and our trial members begin to contemplate converting over. Currently, our new member conversions remain on budget. For the past couple of months, the membership committee has been busy re-evaluating each of our membership categories to ensure that each category is meeting the needs of our current membership while providing value and variety for potential incoming members. These recommendations will be presented to the Board in the coming months.
When the warmer temperatures finally arrive each of the patios at Credit Valley will be waiting to welcome you with completely new furniture! On the boardroom patio, we’re excited for the addition of televisions, an outdoor kitchen and the new pizza oven. No doubt this will be a popular hangout during the NBA finals and beyond.
